Actress Jada Pinkett Smith is saddened that the Golden Globe did not take her movie Girls Trip and its breakout star Tiffany Haddish into Golden Globe nominations. She took to Twitter to express her displeasure. The 46-year-old also said that she is upset that Hollywood Foreign Press Association did not even watch the film.

"I'm not upset about Tiffany Haddish or 'Girls Trip' not getting a (nomination)... I'm discouraged about the fact that the Hollywood Foreign Press/ Golden Globes wouldn't even watch the movie," Pinkett Smith wrote. She added, “Hollywood has systems in place that must learn to expand its concepts of race, gender equality and inclusion in regard to its perceptions of art across the board."

The actress also said that Golden Globes voters, which include 93 individual members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, neither attended the private screenings of the film nor the press conferences in support of the movie. Jada said that Girls Trip, which hit theatres in July, was one of the most successful films of the year. It is believed that the flick earned a whopping $150 million. Apart from Jada and Haddish, the movie also featured Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Larenz Tate and Mike Colter.

This is not the first time that Smith has lashed out against the awards. Last year, she criticised Oscars for failing to recognise non-white talent.
