James Gunn Reveals His Suicidal Thoughts

James Gunn latest outing, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, is garnering overwhelming response from the audience and is raking in big bucks too. However, it wasn’t the same for him when he was young. In a recent post on Facebook, the director revealed that he even considered of suicide during his struggling days.

The 46-year-old filmmaker said, "When I was young I felt utterly alone, at times to the point of suicidal thoughts. I never felt like I belonged. And, despite having love around me, I had an impossible time experiencing it, or taking it in. Suddenly I could see past the bland suburbs where I lived into a more magical world, a world more aligned with what I imagined. Sometimes these works were simply escapist fantasies that distracted me from the difficulties of my internal life".

In his long post, the Slither director mentioned that he find it difficult to connect with other people. However, Alice Cooper or Freddie Mercury words comforted him and made him believe that he wasn’t alone. On a related note, Gunn’s latest released flick is doing extremely well in other countries as well such as Thailand, Brazil, Colombia, Russia, and the UK.
