James Wan has struck a deal with Warner Bros. to direct Aquaman. Jason Mamoa will be seen in the lead role of the film. “The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material”, said Warner Bros.’s Greg Silverman.

The movie will focus on Aquaman (Jason Mamoa) as a ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface. Aquaman will also be making an appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will also be a part of the Warner Bros. Justice League movies.

Wan will lead the project fresh after the success of Furious 7, which earned over $1.4 billion worldwide at the box office. The 38-year-old director has also committed to directing The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Experiment for New Line Cinema.
