The weirdly funny Jar Jar Binks was first introduced in the first episode of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: Phantom Menace. The movie was released in 1999 and since then, people have found several reasons to dislike the character. Ahmed Best played the character, providing the motion capture as well as the voice.

During a Skype chat, Ahmed revealed, “No, I think I’ve done my damage. Yeah. I’m good with where I stand in the Star Wars universe. I don’t need to do that”. When asked what his reply would be if he was asked to portray the character again, he stated, “I’d say ‘No’. I’m not really interested in coming back. I did what I did, I thought it was great, I thought it was fun, and now it’s time to move on”.

Talking about the hate around the character, Ahmed said, “When [fans] see a character that’s purely comical, and purely for the children, they felt probably a bit condescended to. And I can understand how they wanted more a more serious story. But on the same token, the children really liked it”.
