Jason Bourne Opens Strong With $110 Million Globally

The recently released Matt Damon starrer, ‘Jason Bourne’, saw a strong opening at the box office with its $60 million domestically. The Paul Greengrass directorial pooled in $110 million worldwide and secured the top spot on the weekend box office list. The fifth film in the epic franchise stars Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones. In India, the movie will be released on August 5.

Justin Lin’s ‘Star Trek Beyond’ came in second with its $24 million over its second weekend. The movie has grossed $160 million globally. It is the third instalment in the rebooted franchise and brings back Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg and others. The Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Christina Applegate starrer, ‘Bad Moms’, saw an opening weekend of $24 million worldwide. The movie, directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, takes the third place at the weekend box office.

Universal’s animated flick, ‘The Secret Life of Pets’, saw its fourth weekend and pooled in $18 million, sending the total to $395 million worldwide. Eric Heisserer’s ‘Lights Out’ brought in $10 million on its second weekend. The global earnings of the film have now reached $63 million.
