    Jason O’Mara has been cast in Richie Smyth’s Jadotville, reported by Deadline. O’Mara will be seen essaying the role of Company Sgt. Jack “Sarge” Prendergast. The movie also features Jamie Dornan, Guillame Canet and Mark Strong.

    The film, set in 1961, portrays the true-life events around the siege of an Irish UN battalion by 3,000 Congolese troops under the command of French and Belgian mercenaries. Jamie Dornan is set to play the role of Irish commander, Patrick Quinlan, with Canet in charge of the French contingent. Mark Strong’s character has not been unveiled, but O’Mara will be seen essaying the character of Company Sergeant Jack “Sarge” Prendergast, who is Quinlan’s right-hand man.

    O’Mara was last seen on the big screen in Lake Bell’s comedy In A World. The 42-year-old actor is best known for his roles on the small screen. He has been playing George Washington in the US mini-series Sons of Liberty and will also appear in the medical-drama Complications.
