Jessica Chastain Ensures That She Is Paid Equivalent To Her Male Counterpart In Any Movie

Though male and female actors put in a same amount of work in any movie, however, male actors are always paid more than their female counterparts. Therefore to make sure that her wage is at par with her male co-star, actress Jessicaa Chastain negotiates her contract. She has said that before taking up any role in the film, she makes it a point to discuss with the producers and concerned people about the amount that her male co-star is getting paid for the same movie.

"I'm not taking jobs anymore where I'm getting paid a quarter of what the male co-star is being paid. I'm not allowing that in my life. What I do now, when I'm taking on a film, I always ask about the fairness of the pay,” said the Oscar-nominated actress.

The 40-year-old star has said that she doesn’t care if she loses any movie but then she is happy that she has created a ‘boundary’ that will teach people how to treat women in a good manner. She also asserted that she turned down many movies because of the wage gap, which did not even come back to her again. But it did not matter.
