Jim Parsons (41) has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was accompanied by his mother Judy Parsons, his partner and art director Todd Spiewak and the cast of The Big Bang Theory, which is now running in its 8th season.

After being honoured with the Hollywood star, Parsons said: “One of the things I know is, the main reason I'm in this career and here today, is because of my family and the support they gave me, and the way I was encouraged to pursue this insane dream of acting, from Texas to here”.

Parsons - who has won four Emmy awards and a Golden Globe award and is well known for portraying Sheldon Cooper, a highly intelligent yet dysfunctional physicist in the hit television series - went on to thank the creators of the show, saying: “That credit goes to Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady and Steve Molaro. And the credit goes to the rest of the cast”.
