Joaquin Phoenix To Play Joker In Todd Phillips’ Standalone Movie?

If things go well, Joaquin Phoenix might play the Joker in Warner Bros. and Todd Phillips’ standalone movie. Rumours are rife that Phoenix is in talks to play the role of the Clown Prince of Crime in the untitled Joker origin movie. Phillips has also confirmed that Joaquin is the top choice for the cast to play Joker.

Reports further added that Phoenix has given his nod to play the role. The flick will be co-penned and helmed by Phillips. Phillips was in talks with the actor before the New Year. With Joaquin playing Joker in the standalone film, you might be wondering what will happen to Jared Leto’s portrayal of the same character. As per the insiders, Phoenix’s Joker will have no effect on Leto’s character in future DC films.

Helmed by Todd Phillips, the flick will be bankrolled by DC Comics. This will give them the opportunity to make more movies in future. On a related note, Leto will reprise the role of Joker in ‘Suicide Squad 2’.
