Yes, you heard it right! Actor Joaquin Phoenix will be starring as 'Joker' in Warner Bros. origin movie. If we go by the reports, the actor has signed the deal and the shooting will begin in September in New York. Joaquin Phoenix follows previous "Jokers" Jared Leto (Suicide Squad in 2016), Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight in 2008) and Jack Nicholson (Batman in 1989).

The movie is directed by Todd Phillip and co-written by Silver Scot with him. The film can be described as, "exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale”. The project will be a stand-alone picture for the Batman nemesis 'Joker' with a budget of 55 million dollars.

The movie will be dark and experimental in the approach. The release date and title of the film aren't revealed yet. Further, the project is expected to get ready for release in 2019. Interestingly, Joaquin Phoenix was previously considered for the role of Lex Luthor in Batman V. Superman, to no avail.
