Joe Johnston Roped In To Helm Narnia Revival The Silver Chair

Filmmaker Joe Johnston made his directorial debut with a science fiction comedy flick Honey, I Shrunk the Kids in 1989. The film was well received at the box-office and earned over $222 million worldwide. The film also became the highest-grossing live-action Disney film ever, a record it held for five years. The film maker will again don the Director’s hat after his last directorial flick in 2014.

Joe has been taken on board to helm Narnia: The Silver Chair, which is the revival of C S Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia' series. David Magee, who was the copyist for Life of Pi, has adapted the script for Narnia: The Silver Chair. Helmed by Johnston, the film will be bankrolled by Mark Gordon, Lewis' stepson Douglas Gresham, Vincent Sieber, and Melvin Adams.

As per Gordon, "Joe is a wonderful storyteller who is equally at home in the biggest franchises and the most intimate character pieces. Because C S Lewis' story is iconic and epic, but also tender, personal, and emotional, he's the perfect choice to bring The Silver Chair to the screen".

As per the latest reports, the edition will center on their cousin Eustace Scrubb, who travels to Narnia to save the kidnapped child of Prince Caspian.
