The filming of the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series has been further delayed after producers realised the seriousness of Johnny Depp’s hand injury. The actor was required to undergo a surgery to insert a pin in his finger. This is not the first delay to the shoot, earlier this year a tropical cyclone disrupted the filming.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ shooting is expected to resume around April 15 on Australia’s Gold Coast after the production was shut down for weeks following the 51-year-old’s return to the U.S. for hand surgery. Around 200 crew members have been temporarily stood down until shooting resumes.

The movie - slated for release on July 7, 2017 - also features Javier Bardem, who essays the role Captain Brand, a villain who holds Sparrow (Depp) responsible for the death of his brother.
