The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone has been brought on board to write Amblin Entertainment ’s adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Talisman’. ‘The Talisman’ is a 1984 fantasy novel that King co-wrote with Peter Straub. The movie will be produced by Frank Marshall, while Michael Wright will serve as the executive producer.

The story revolves around a young boy named Jack Sawyer who travels from New Hampshire to California to save his mother who is dying of cancer. On his way, he gets to know about an alternate universe known as The Territories, where 'twinners', parallel versions of people, live. Jack has to travel through both the U.S. and the Territories to find an object known as the Talisman, which is believed to save his mother's life.

Amblin initially decided to develop the project as a TV show, but later decided to turn it into a movie. Hollywood earlier adapted Stephen’s novels ‘It’ and the ‘Dark Tower’ into films. ‘It’ became the biggest horror film of all time earning $606 million worldwide. Boone’s ‘X-Men’ spinoff ‘New Mutants’ is set to release on April 13 next year.
