The rebooted Jurassic World, which hit the screens last year, won the hearts of the audiences and became one of the highest grossing movies of all time. It brought in $1.67 billion at the box office and naturally, the filmmakers want to make a sequel. While the 2015 flick was directed by Colin Trevorrow, the sequel will be directed by J.A. Bayona.

Recently, Trevorrow spoke about the upcoming project and revealed, “I don’t think that bigger, better dinosaurs or bigger, more epic-in-scope action sequences are what people are necessarily looking for from this franchise and what they love about it”. He added, “It will be more suspenseful and scary”. He also shared that long before there were talks of a sequel, he wanted J.A. Bayona to be at the helm of affairs.

The sequel will bring back Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard from the original. The filmmakers are planning for a June 2018 release. Trevorrow will serve as co-writer for the project alongside Derek Connolly and Michael Crichton.
