Justin Bieber concert: From Baby to Purpose, Mumbaiites tell us how they became Beliebers

As the city gushes over Canadian popstar Justin Bieber, who will perform at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai within a few hours, HT spoke to a few of fans, or Beliebers as they are called, to find out which is their favourite Bieber song.

For Nagpur resident Anshul Gurnani, 21, Purpose is a perfect Bieber number. “I usually listen to pop and jazz, but I was surprised to hear Bieber’s latest album [Purpose].”

“I started liking Bieber after hearing Where Are You Now. His latest album, Purpose, is good,” said Ankit Nagar, a resident of Colaba.

Aayushi Dutta, 19, from Thane, feels Purpose is a stepping stone in Bieber’s career. “At one point, it was fashionable to hate Justin. With Purpose, he has reinvented himself and moved away from his bad boy image. I’m excited about the concert,” she said.

Devanshi Maloo, Malad resident, said, “I liked Baby, when I heard it. But soon, like many others, I started to hate him. I have now outgrown him, but my 13-year-old sister has got a scent named after the singer.”

Bieber rose to fame after a video of him singing was discovered by a talent manager. “I have always liked him. I don’t care about what others think of him. His songs make me happy and I can’t wait to attend the concert,” said Hemangi Bhat, 16.
