Kate Hudson joins the cast of Deepwater Horizon

Kate Hudson has been cast for a role in Deepwater Horizon. The news was announced by Summit Entertainment and Participant Media on Thursday. Hudson will be essaying the role of Mark Wahlberg’s wife in the film.

The movie is based on the real life events that happened on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010. The story focuses on the courage shown by those working on Deepwater Horizon when an explosion occurred on the vessel as the result of a blowout. The movie showcases the bravery and survival instinct of the crew in the face of what would become one of the biggest man-made disasters in history.

The film will be produced by Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson along with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian and David Womark. The movie scheduled for release in September 2016. The flick also features Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien, Kurt Russell and John Malkovich.
