    Rumoursare doing rounds that American filmmaker Barbra Streisand may rope in the stunning beauty Keira Knightley for her next. The upcoming flick is a biopic on Catherine the Great - the most renowned and the longest-ruling female leader of Russia. According to reports, the Oscar-nominated actress has been in talks for the project since last year.

    If sources are to be believed, the London Boulevard star has caught the eye of the actress-turned-director to play the powerful role of the Russian monarch in the film. The script of the prospected movie has been penned by Kristina Lauren Anderson. Reportedly, the film is produced by Gil Netter.

    Catherine the Great, also known as Yekaterina Alexeyevna or Catherine II, was the longest reigning female leader of Russia and held power from 1762 until her death in 1796. The biopic will reportedly follow the life of the young empress as she becomes trapped in a marriage with Emperor Peter III. The flick will mark Streisand's fourth film after Yentl, The Prince of Tides and The Mirror Has Two Faces.
