Kylo Ren Compares Star Wars Episode VIII To Empire Strikes Back

Adam Driver entered the epic Star Wars franchise last year with ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. The movie was a huge success and Adam was lauded for his portrayal of Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa. He will be returning for Episode VIII and recently spoke about the project, comparing it to ‘Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back’.

“It’s great. It’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone. For that people always go, ‘Oooh, it’s dark’, but I don’t know that it necessarily is. It’s just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear”. He also praised the director, Rian Johnson, and said that he has taken things to the next level in a really great way. “He wrote it too, and Rian’s writing is so clear. I learned a lot of things about my character through his writing”, he added.

Kylo Ren is a very strong character in the franchise, not just because of his lineage, but because of the path he chose. In ‘The Force Awakens’, he kills his father, Han, showing that he has completely surrendered to and acknowledged the dark side. Star Wars Episode VIII will hit theatres on December 15 next year.
