    Legendary Judy Dench to be Honoured with Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence

    Here’s some great news for the fans of Judi Dench. The legendary actress has been chosen as the 12th recipient of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. The veteran actress will reportedly receive the award late in November, at a black-tie gala dinner.



    100-year-old Kirk Douglas was overjoyed to hear this. He said, "I am especially delighted to learn that Dame Judi Dench will accept the award that bears my name. She is a consummate artiste of stage and screen who is a particular favourite of mine. I wish I could have had the joy of working with her, but I am happy for the pleasure of seeing my name coupled with hers in support of the Santa Barbara Film Festival." Douglas will turn 101 on December 9.



     The veteran actress saw a lot of praise for few films which also brought her Oscar attention. Some of these movies were — Mrs. Brown , Shakespeare in Love, Chocolat, Iris and Mrs. Henderson Presents. Truly, Dench brought an era of some really good movies to Hollywood.
