The original Baywatch producers Michael Berk and Douglas Schwartz revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio almost played David Hasselhoff's son on the hit '90s show.  Leo was slated to play Hobie Buchanan in the ’90s TV drama until Hasselhoff got involved. Hasselhoff was reportedly concerned that 15-year-old Leo looked too old to play his son.

Co-producer Michael Berk told The Hollywood Reporter, “We actually had DiCaprio ready to be cast. But David thought he was too old to play his son.” Douglas Schwartz, co-producer, added, “David thought it would make him look older. He had a lot of concerns of that type.”

DiCaprio went on to star as Luke in US TV show Growing Pains and win an Oscar for The Revenant earlier this year. Both David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson have come aboard for roles in the Baywatch movie. They join a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Priyanka Chopra, Hannibal Buress, Jack Kesy and Jon Bass. Paramount has set Baywatch for release on May 19, 2017.
