Recently, Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio lavished words of appreciation on director Martin Scorsese. The two have collaborated for five acclaimed movies: ‘Gangs of New York’, ‘The Aviator, ‘The Departed’, ‘Shutter Island’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street'. Of late, Leonardo stated that the 73-year-old filmmaker is his director and friend.
“I thank you for everything you've done for me and our craft. You are my director, my collaborator, my friend”, stated Leonardo at a ceremony in which Martin became the seventh recipient of the Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award. "You are part of a community that spans continents and decades and I couldn't think of a better recipient of this honour”, the 41-year-old actor added.
The directors' close friends including Robert De Niro, Leonardo, Olivia Wilde, Sacha Baron Cohen, Juliette Lewis and Ellen Burstyn graced the ceremony with their presence. On a related note, Leonardo was last seen in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s epic semi-biographical Western film ‘The Revenant’ (2015).
