With Sicario releasing this October, Lionsgate has already started planning for the sequel. So far, Sicario has grossed an average of $66,881 each on the six screens it was shown. This has made it the highest grossing film per screen this year.

The movie focuses on an FBI agent Kate Macer and her rough ride into the U.S., Mexico borderland drug war. Kate has been enrolled by the government task force and put in an unruly, brutal and morally incorrect world of international drug trafficking. A source has revealed that the sequel will follow Alejandro, the leader of the task force.

Sicario is directed by Denis Villeneuve and will hit theatres on October 2 in the U.S. The cast includes Emily Blunt as Kate Macer, Benicio Del Toro as Alejandro, Josh Brolin as Matt and Jon Bernthal as Ted. The movie is written by Taylor Sheridan and produced by Basil Iwanyk, Thad Luckinbill, Trent Luckinbill, Edward McDonnell and Molly Smith.
