Luke Bracey On Reprising Keanu Reeves’ Role

The Best of Me actor Luke Bracey plays Johnny Utah in the recently released film Point Break. The movie is a reboot of the 90’s film with the same name which starred Keanu Reeves. In the original, Keanu played the character Johnny Utah, which was a dream come true for Luke, to play Keanu’s character.

Luke stated, “It's a movie I grew up with in Australia. I also grew up surfing on the beaches of Sydney, and it's kind of handed to you with your first surfboard if you're born in the '90s (laughs). So if you get an e-mail saying there's a potential you could be Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves' character in the original), your eyes go wide and you get really nervous. You get the chance to meet the director, then you do it, and suddenly you re Johnny Utah, and you're like 'My God, this is real!' This is a dream come true, something I never thought would happen in my life”.

The Point Break reboot was directed by Ericson Core and the cast includes Édgar Ramírez, Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer, Matias Varela, Clemens Schick, Tobias Santelmann and Max Thieriot, along with Luke. The movie was released on December 25, 2015. The original was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starred Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Lori Petty and Gary Busey.
