Maggie Smith Wants Leo To Win An Oscar

Two-time Oscar winner Maggie Smith has recently revealed that she has been rooting for Leonardo DiCaprio for a very long time. DiCaprio was first nominated for an Academy Award for the film What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. He was just 19 years old then and Maggie has been voting for him ever since.

Talking about the BAFTA Kiss Cam, the actress shared, “That was the thrill for me, a real thrill because I think he’s a terrific actor. I’ve been rooting and voting for him since [What’s Eating] Gilbert Grape. I thought he was so amazing in that one. He was a young man, really very young boy, wasn’t he?”

The duo shared a peck on the cheek with the BAFTA Kiss Cam. In an interview with NPR’s Fresh Air, the actress spoke about The Revenant and said, “You just think, God, what he went through in that movie”. DiCaprio and the team faced severe weather conditions while filming for the movie.
