Marilyn Monroe Asked For Judy Garland's Help Before She Died

Marilyn Monroe Asked For Judy Garland's Help Before She Died

‘Judy and I’ is the title of late Sid Luft’s unfinished memoir which was recently made available. The ‘Judy’ in question is none other than American singer, actress and vaudevillian Judy Garland, and Sid was her third husband. In his book, he revealed that Judy and actress-model Marilyn Monroe were close friends and confidants.

The book also reveals that before Monroe died of an overdose in 1962, she sought Garland’s help. According to the book, during Judy’s years of insomnia, Monroe was one of her telephone pals which is why Judy was quite troubled after her friends death. The book also has an excerpt from Garland’s 1967 article for 'Ladies Home Journal' which talks about a scary conversation Judy had with Monroe.

The book has been published by Chicago Review Press and falls under the biography & autobiography category. It is said that Sid was responsible for Judy’s meteoric comeback after her unceremonious exit from MGM. He produced the 1954 film ‘A Star is Born’ which brought her on track.
