‘Star Wars The Last Jedi’ is going to release on December 15, 2017. Hollywood veteran actor Mark Hamill will be reprising the legendary role of ‘Luke Skywalker’ in the upcoming movie. The movie will also star late actress Carrie Fisher in her remarkable character of ‘Princess Leia’. Recently, Hamill opened up about his role in the upcoming movie.

Regarding the character of ‘Luke’, the 68-year-old actor was quoted as saying, “I don’t think Luke’s fundamental personality has changed, except that he is older and his life experiences have shaped his outlook the same way they do for all of us”. The actor further stated, “The biggest challenge for me was actually in the time between Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I had to know what had happened to Luke during those years. I had to glean decades of backstory from the script”.

He further added, “And some of it I had to make up for myself. It’s not important to the storyline for this film, but I did discuss some of my thoughts with director to make sure I wasn’t coming up with anything in my personal backstory that would affect Luke’s portrayal in this film”. The movie is helmed by Rian Johnson. Hamill ended his statement revealing that the upcoming movie will emphasise on Luke’s relationship with the character ‘Rey’.
