Known for his roles in The Exorcist, Minority Report and The Seventh Seal, Max von Sydow will be part of the Game of Thrones cast for the forthcoming season. The 86-year-old Swedish-French actor will be playing the role of the Three-Eyed Raven who was briefly showcased in the fourth season. Previously, the character was played by Struan Rodger.

Recently, Ian McShane was roped in for season 6 but his role was unknown. The knowledge of Max’s role might take away some curiosity about the new season. After Bran Stark fell and lost the use of his legs, he started having visions of a three eyed raven, who then guided him to the cave where the human body of the raven resides. The old man (Struan Rodger) then revealed himself for the first time.

With no mention of the character in season 5, the Three-Eyed Raven will be returning in season 6 and hopefully answer the questions raised in the season 4 finale. The upcoming season will be created by five directors who will be working on two episodes each. It will be aired in April next year.
