    Maze Runner 2 Claims Top Spot At Box Office

    Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the sequel to the 2014 film The Maze Runner grabbed the first position at the domestic box office with its $30.3 million opening weekend. The movie is directed by Wes Ball and brings back actors Dylan O'Brien, Ki Hong Lee, Kaya Scodelario and Thomas Brodie-Sangster who were present in the first part. Maze Runner 2 follows the story of the previous part with the Gladers tackling obstacles in a desolate landscape.

    The second spot was claimed by Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp. The movie became the biggest opening for the actor since 2013. The Warner Bros. crime thriller has Depp play a real life gangster who was the most infamous violent criminal in South Boston. The Visit grossed $11.3 million and was number three on the top five list.

    Coming in fourth was The Perfect Guy with its $9.6 million. Both The Visit and The Perfect Guy were on their second weekend. Everest, which is based on a true story of a group of mountaineers who climb Mt. Everest, grossed $7.6 million on its opening weekend taking the fifth spot.
