Melissa Benoist Roped In For Patriots Day

CBS and Lionsgate have announced that Supergirl star Melissa Benoist has joined the cast of 'Patriots Day'. The movie, directed by Peter Berg, will chronicle the events that took place during the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the investigation that followed. Melissa will join Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, John Goodman and Kevin Bacon for the film.

The actress has been roped in to play bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s wife Katherine Russell. Along with the actress, Jake Picking and Khandi Alexander will also be joining the team. Jake will essay the role of an MIT Police Officer named Sean Collier while Khandi will play a law enforcement interrogator.

The script for ‘Patriots Day’ has been penned by Matt Charman. It is currently in production in Boston. The movie will be released on December 21. Melissa was last seen on the big screen in the film 'Band of Robbers' which was directed by Aaron Nee and Adam Nee.
