Mia Farrow condemns Golden Globe Award’s special tribute to Woody Allen

The special tribute to legendary filmmaker Woody Allen at the Golden Globe Awards has been seriously denounced by his former love Mia Farrow and her son. The 78-year-old filmmaker was not physically present at the awards ceremony to receive the coveted Cecil B. DeMille Award and his Annie Hall actress Diane Keaton collected it on his behalf. She also delivered a long speech praising the director though Farrow made it very clear that she was not at all interested in watching the special moment.

Earlier Allen was accused by Farrow for alleged molestation of their adopted daughter Dylan who was then seven years old in 1992. The allegations were withdrawn later, though. Alice actress Farrow tweeted during the broadcast of the show, ''Time to grab some ice cream & switch over to #GIRLS (sic).'' The 25-year-old son of Farrow, Ronan, tweeted, ''Missed the Woody Allen tribute - did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall? (sic)'' Later both mother and son re-tweeted an article from Vanity Fair in which Dylan talked about her celebrated father.

When the tribute was announced, Diane, clad in a trademark suit with thick black glasses, appreciated her father for his work mainly with female stars. She said, ''It's kinda hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that 179 of the world's most captivating actresses have appeared in Woody's films and there's a reason for this. The reason is they wanted to. They wanted to because Woody's women can't be compartmentalised, right? I mean, they struggle, they love, they fall apart, they dominate, they're funny, they're flawed. They are, in fact, the hallmark of Woody's work. But what's even more remarkable is that absolutely nothing links these unforgettable characters from the fact that they came from the mind of Woody Allen. And there you have it.'' Her speech came to an end with a series of curses which were covered up during the television broadcast. She also sang a Girl Scout song, ''Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold. A circle is round, it has no end. That's how long you're going to be my friend.'' Over several decades now, Allen has denied all the allegations against him on abuse and a judge also found the charges to be vain.
