E! Online has reported that ‘Blue Valentine’ actress Michelle Williams will be headlining the Janis Joplin biopic. Janis, for the uninformed, was an iconic singer from the 60s and one of the first female blues vocalists. She is still remembered for her songs ‘Me and Bobby McGee’, 'Piece of My Heart’ and several others.

When the actress was asked about the biopic, she said, “I figure there’s one good day in the life of an actor, which is when you get the job”. She added, “Before you get the job, you’re like, ‘Come on! I’m begging. I’m dying for this. I gotta have it! Please, I’ll do anything. I promise... Take me! Take me! You get the job and you’re like, ‘I got it! I’m so excited! I can’t believe I have this opportunity. I can’t believe I’m going to get to do this”.

She further added, “And then you start worrying the next day. I’m in the worrying-the-next-day phase”. The movie will be directed by Sean Durkin and will be based on the letters that the singer wrote to her friends and family. Janis died at the age of 27 from heroin overdose and the biopic will chronicle her rise to fame, along with her struggle with alcohol and drug addiction.
