Moana Dominates Weekend Box Office
Dwayne Johnson’s animated flick ‘Moana’ has dominated the weekend box office once again with $28 million. The movie has been directed by Ron Clements and John Musker and has amassed $177 million worldwide in just two weeks. ‘Moana’ has beaten ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ which brought in $18 million on its third weekend.
The David Yates directorial has crossed the $600 million mark worldwide. It stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Colin Farrell. Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Arrival’ came in third with its $7.3 million weekend. The movie has been on screens for 4 weeks now and has pooled in $105 million worldwide. It stars Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner in the lead roles.
Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard’s ‘Allied’ earned $7 million on its second weekend. The movie, directed by Robert Zemeckis, has reached $53 million worldwide. This is quite low according to the expectations of the filmmakers as the movie was developed on a budget of $85 million. One reason for the low income might be Brad Pitt’s divorce case that he has been struggling with.
Doctor Strange still holds a spot in the weekend top 5 list with its $6.4 million. The movie has been in theatres for five weeks now and has brought in $634 million worldwide. Benedict Cumberbatch leads the cast for the film that has been directed by Scott Derrickson.
