    It was a gala Sunday evening on August 25 as the whole world rejoiced over one of the most prominent music awards ceremony, MTV Video Music Awards. It was a winning night for American singer Justin Timberlake who bagged four trophies and the British boy band One Direction, who continued their journey of success by winning a prize at the gala evening.

    One Direction was honoured with the Song of the Summer award for their track Best Song Ever at the New York function. The band comprises of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson and they emerged as the winner in the only category for which they were nominated. After winning three awards last year at the same venue, this one takes their count forward to four.Timberlake was presented with the Best Pop Video award by comedian Jimmy Falon. After receiving the award Timberlake said mockingly, "I don't deserve this award. But I'm not going to give it back." His videos also won the awards for Best Direction (for Suit and Tie) and Best Editing (for Mirrors) and he came together with his former boy band N-Sync to deliver live performance at the ceremony. The American hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won the Best Video with a Social Message award for Same Love. The evening became more entertaining with live performances by Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry.
