The 6th annual Napa Valley Film Festival will be held from 9 to 13 November in Napa, Yountville, St. Helena and Calistoga. This time, the event will honour actor Matthew McConaughey with a tribute award. On November 10, there will also be a screening of his latest film ‘Gold’.

Matthew will receive the Caldwell Vineyards Maverick Actor Tribute to commemorate his career and his contribution to cinematic story-telling and his acting. Napa Valley Film Festival co-founder and director Marc Lhormer said, “Matthew boldly inhabits each character that he plays on screen, and we are just delighted to showcase his latest film and to honour him at the festival this year”. He also called the actor a “maverick”, talking about his work in Hollywood.

Gold has been directed by Stephen Gaghan and is being touted as an adventure drama. The actor plays a prospector named Kenny Wells who forms an alliance with Edgar Ramirez, who plays a geologist. They work together to find gold in the jungle of Indonesia.
