Netflix Buys Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman

Much anticipated movie from Martin Scorsese’s gangster movie The Irishman, has been brought by Netflix. However, the streaming media giant did not comment on the deal, but close sources claim that deal has taken place. The movie stars Robert De Niro, in a titular role.

Interestingly, this will be De Niro and Scorsese’s ninth collaboration together, since 1973’s Mean Streets, followed by Taxi Driver, New York, New York, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Goodfellas, Cape Fear and 1995’s Casino.

Steven Zaillian wrote the script for the flick, which is based on the Charles Brandt’s 2004 book, ‘I Heard You Paint Houses’. The novel centered on the life of the mob hitman, Frank ‘The Irishman’ Sheeran. The flick has other big names, including Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel. Paramount Pictures is looking to make up after the failure of their latest, Silence.
