New species of tiny spider gets Sir David Attenboroughs name

In the honour of veteran British broadcaster and nature lover Sir David Attenborough, a new species of spider found on Horn Island off the coast of Queensland, Australia, has been named after him. The spiders, named Prethopalpus attenboroughi, are very tiny with a length of just over a millimetre. Responding after receiving the honour, the BBC presenter said, "Naming a species is the biggest of compliments that you could ask from any scientific community and I truly thank you very, very much indeed for this one." However, this is not the first honour of this kind for Attenborough because he already has a species of fish, plant and tree named after him.
