After 18 years of marriage, actors Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith filed for divorce in April 2014. Griffith filed the divorce papers citing irreconcilable differences and asked for spousal support. The two, who got married in May 1996, have one daughter, Stella, 17, together. While this was Banderas’ second divorce, it was Griffith’s fourth.

KATY PERRY — JOHN MAYER

The two hit all the right notes when they announced that they were seeing each other in 2012. However, by the end of February 2014, Katy and John were no longer in sync, and the star couple announced that they had broken up. Interestingly, the couple’s separation news came after several western tabloids reported that the two were engaged, which clearly wasn’t true. Or was it?

GWYNETH PALTROW — CHRIS MARTIN

The actor-singer duo called it quits after 11 years of marriage. The two also have two children — daughter Apple and son Moses. Paltrow wrote on her website, goop.com that the two have decided to “consciously uncouple”. “It is with hearts full of sadness that we’ve decided to separate. We’ve been working hard for over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much, we will remain separate.”

HILARY DUFF-MIKE COMRIE

Things didn’t work out for this duo even after having several couple therapy sessions. Actor-singer Hilary Duff and former hockey player Mick Comrie decided to end their three-year-old marriage in October 2014. The two have a one-year-old son together, Luca Cruz Comrie. The day the couple announced their separation, Duff wrote on Twitter, “Mike and I are sitting here, we appreciate your kindness & well wishes. Not an easy day but we’re getting thru it together (sic)”.

PAULA PATTON-ROBIN THICKE

American singer Robin Thicke and actor Paula Patton were married for nearly nine years, but Paula d decided to part ways with Robin in February 2014. The couple began dating when they were teenagers, and have one child, Julian Fuego T Thicke, who was born in 2010. “We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” Paula said, confirming the divorce in a statement.
