    Palm Springs Film Festival Will Honour Willem Dafoe

    Actor Willem Dafoe has been selected at the 29th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival for its Icon Award. The latter has given an outstanding performance in “The Florida Project” for which he will be honoured.  The award will be presented at the on Jan. 2 during the Palm Springs Convention Center festival’s celebration.



    Chairman of the festival Harold Matzner said, “Willem Dafoe is a versatile actor who has appeared in over one hundred films in his stellar career”. He further said, “In ‘The Florida Project,’ Dafoe delivers a career-defining performance, as a hotel manager overseeing his sometimes unruly residents, which has received numerous critical accolades”.



    Moreover, Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, Tom Hanks, and Meryl Streep had earlier received this honour. Dafoe has received a best supporting actor nomination from the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Broadcast Film Critics’ Association, and Satellite Awards. Further, he has received best supporting actor recognition from the New York Film Critics, Los Angeles Film Critics, and the National Board of Review.
