Patrick Hughes in talks to helm The Raid remake

Screen Gems, along with XYZ films are in negotiations to board ‘The Expendables 3’ director Patrick Hughes for The Raid remake. The remake will be financially backed by XYZ Films and Gareth Huw Evans. It is also learnt that Hemsworth brothers might land the lead roles in the venture. The project is said to have the same story line as of The Raid and The Raid 2.

The original Raid revolves around an Indonesian S.W.A.T. team, who has a mission to rescue innocent residents from drug dealing violent gangster. A young cop, whose brother is a part of this drug gang, fights singly to bring out his brother from this chaos. Brad Inglesby is signed to pen the script. More developments are awaited on the same. The Raid 2 is hitting theatres on March 28. Hughes has previously worked in Red Hill and Signs.
