Here comes a new addition to the cast of Daniel Espinosa’s film adaptation of Child 44, Philip Seymour Hoffman, as first reported by Deadline. He will join the other stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman in the film.

The adaptation has been inspired by Tom Rob Smith’s bestseller Child 44, the first installment of a trilogy. It revolves around a dishonoured member of the Soviet Union military police during the Stalin era. He is appointed to probe into a series of child killings, which have some connection with highly positioned political leaders.

It is a joint production venture by Ridley Scott, Michael Schaefer and Greg Shapiro under Scott Free Productions banner. The project is co-financed by Worldview Entertainment.
