Please Don't Buy This If You're Offered It: J.K. Rowling Urges People Regarding Stolen Harry Potter Prequel

Back in 2008, author J.K. Rowling wrote an 800-word manuscript, on two sides of an A5 postcard, for a charity auction. Nine years later, between April 13 and April 24, the manuscript was stolen during a burglary in central England. Naturally, the author is quite distressed and has urged people to not buy the document if offered.

Rowling took to Twitter and reached out to her 10 million plus followers, requesting them to not buy the rare Harry Potter prequel. “PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU'RE OFFERED IT. Originally auctioned for @englishpen, the owner supported writers' freedoms by bidding for it”, read her post. The story was auctioned for 25,000 British Pound and the money was donated to English PEN, an organization that promotes freedom of expression.

The author is working with the police to find out who might have stolen the document. It may be a die-hard fan who desperately wants to know what the author wrote down or someone who just wants to sell it and make money. Either ways, we hope that the document is returned to its rightful owner.
