Ridley Scott To Helm Disney’s ‘The Merlin Saga’

Disney has hired Ridley Scott to helm the upcoming film ‘The Merlin Saga’. Scott’s production company Scott Free is also in talks to produce the flick along with Gil Netter. Philippa Boyens will pen the script for the movie.

‘The Merlin Saga’ is based on the T.A. Barron books and revolves around a young Merlin, who goes on to become the mentor of the classic literary character King Arthur. The movie is one of the two films which Disney is currently making based on the character Merlin. The studio is also working on a live-action ‘Sword in the Stone’.

While several films have been made on King Arthur legend, the best one to specifically focus on the story of Merlin is NBC’s miniseries ‘Merlin’ that featured Sam Neill. 2017 was the busiest year for Scott. He directed two movies last year in May, ‘Alien’ and ‘Covenant’. His recent directorial was ‘All the Money in the World’ which released last month.
