American actor Robert De Niro has confirmed to portray Enzo Ferrari in an upcoming biopic. The project will be produced by Gianni Bozzacchi. “It is an honor to tell the life of an extraordinary man who revolutionized the world of motorsport", said De Niro. “The film will go into production soon, mostly in Italy, and has absolute priority over all my other projects”, he added. Bozzacchi’s Triworld Cinema has already reached an agreement with De Niro’s company, Tribeca Entreprises.

Born on February 18, 1898, in Modena, Italy, Enzo Anselmo Ferrari was a motor racing driver, entrepreneur, and the founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix motor racing team and the Ferrari automobile marque. "The film will be titled Ferrari and will be based on an epic story", said Bozzacchi. "It will have a high budget and will cover a wide span - from 1945 to the eighties in a twisted game of eras and episodes”, he added.

Robert (71) has played many Italian roles in his 51-year career as an actor; and one of the biggest was Vito Corleone in ‘The Godfather Part II’, which bagged him Oscar for the Best Supporting Actor. It’s reported that Academy Award winning director Clint Eastwood, 84, is showing interest in directing the film.
