The Avengers have teamed up to boost the spirits of a young fan with Cancer (leukemia). Actress Gwyneth Paltrow shared a pic of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans visiting Ryan, a San Diego mega-fan currently battling cancer. It was Paltrow who organized the meet-up, asking that her superhero friends meet Ryan over social media in early May.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 43-year-old actress posted online earlier in the month, "He absolutely LOVES Captain America and the Avengers and what we want for Ryan if possible is to meet the actors and actresses of the Avengers, especially Chris Evans who plays Captain America."

"He isn't doing too well and this would be a major way to boost his spirits and quite frankly be the best moment of his life if he literally got to meet his hero!" she added.

Ryan Wilcox, 18, has been diagnosed with Cancer for the second time and is a big Marvel fan. His friends have been rooting for him to meet Evans on social media for months using the hashtag #RyanStrong.   “Today @ryanwilcox0303 got a little surprise,” Paltrow shared on Instagram. “Thank you to the incredible #chrisevans and my better work half @robertdowneyjr for being the men you both are. And thank you to the Wilcox family for your hospitality! #ryanstrong.”

"It was so nice of them to take time out from their (lives) to do this," Amy Wilcox said. "Gwyneth gave me the biggest hug, saying it was from one mom to another," she added. The stars spent the afternoon hanging out with Wilcox and his family, even signing a few autographs including one on his bedroom wall.
