Robert Downey Jr. to co-star in Captain America 3

According to a leading website, Robert Downey Jr. is on the verge of signing Captain America 3, a move that would bring the Civil War storyline from Marvel's comic books to the big screen and trigger the start of a new phase of movies from Marvel Studios. The actor is in the final stages of negotiations to play billionaire Tony Stark in the third installment. Downey is already set to suit up as Iron Man for next year's The Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3.

Brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, are already on board to direct Cap 3, which is set for May 6, 2016. Just last week, Downey hinted that something big was on the way, although it was briefly believed that he was referring to a fourth Iron Man film. Now, it seems quite likely that Marvel Studios has even bigger plans for Iron Man!
