Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard has been given the task to direct Star Wars Han Solo spinoff. The project was earlier supposed to be made under the direction of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller but the two were reportedly fired over creative differences. Recently, Howard touched upon bagging the opportunity to contribute to the Star Wars universe.

“It's gratifying to lend my voice to the Star Wars universe now”, Howard stated while talking at Cannes Lions. He called the Han Solo movie “a little opportunity that came my way”. Howard also revealed being a big fan of Star Wars.

“I've been around the Star Wars universe from the beginning”, he said. Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover, the upcoming space film is expected to release on May 25, 2018. Ehrenreich will be seen playing a younger version of the character originated by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars trilogy and The Force Awakens.
