May be it was simply fun or just a publicity stunt. Hollywood star Russell Crowe who reportedly posted a video shot on YouTube which he claimed to be a UFO, has been criticized extensively. The 23-second clip, which Crowe said was taken in the skies over Sydney's Botanic Gardens at dusk, shows a pink, glowing object shoot across the screen. Viewers have however laughed heartily at the shot, among those one even came forward to urge Crowe, "Please never post anything online again Russell. It's just embarrassing".

Broadly it was considered as a joke and everyone had to offer their own explanations behind the phenomenon; e.g. a mobile phone, refraction from passing car headlights, reflected fluorescent lights from the room behind or lens flare. But none could demoralize Crowe from his spirits, who kept on defending himself that the footage was shot on a "Canon 5D, no flash, can't be a lens flare because it moves, camera is fixed." There were also some people who would rather try to understand Crowe’s point, "without imagination mankind would not have evolved.... If it makes Russell happy, let him believe it is a UFO and not some light interference. Be kind people, be kind".

But above all, the user RoadToDawnZ went trending, who said "Come on RC. It could have been more believable without all the editing. Just raw footage would have made it viral.” The New Zealand-born Academy Award winner Crowe has always been familiar with evergreen controversies, and this is something new to join his library.
