Scarlett Johansson to play leading lady in Luc Besson’s Lucy

The renowned actress, Scarlett Johansson who is popular for her roles in action genre films likeThe AvengersandIron Man 2, is all set to reprise her action stunts once again. Negotiations with Scarlett have reportedly come to a satisfying end as she would play the leading lady in filmmaker Luc Besson’s next action thrillerLucy. The French director is mostly known for his women-centric action movies andLucywouldn’t be anything different.

Lucywould revolve around a woman who has been compelled to become a drug mule. By absorbing the drug in her body the actress incidentally gets transformed into an ass-kicking machine. Consequently she gains the power of taking in knowledge instantly, playing with mind in moving objects and she can’t even feel any kind of pain or discomfort any more. The film will be produced by Besson with his EuropaCorp CEOChristophe Lambert and distributed by Universal overseas, exceptFrance, Benelux and China.

The 1990s’ Besson would be back with hisLucyas he used to make movies with strong female characters likeLa Femme NikitaandJoan of Arc. Besson was last working onMalavitastarringRobert De Niro,Michelle PfeifferandTommy Lee Jones, to be released by the end of this year. Scarlett will start working onLucyonce she completes her previous commitment withCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.
