Muscian Scott Weiland, former singer of rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has reportedly passed away at 48.  As per the reports, the singer died in Minnesota while on a tour bus with his band. The confirmation came in from Weiland's Facebook page, which read that he had “passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts”.

The musician was supposed to perform at the Medina Ballroom along with his band. He was found unresponsive in the bus and later declared dead. The show was cancelled thereafter. Weiland has been reportedly suffering substance abuse issues from quite some time.

Guitarist Dave Navarro was first to mourn the death of his friend on Twitter. He tweeted, “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight”. The lead singer of band The Fairwell, Zach Myers, wrote on Twitter, “Sadly our production manager who worked for STP for a long time just confirmed …. So sad”.
