The Universal animated comedy The Secret Life Of Pets topped the movie box office for the second consecutive weekend while the debut of the “Ghostbusters” remake was second, according to figures released Sunday by comScore. The Secret Life Of Pets had an estimated $50.56 million in North American ticket sales, increasing its total for its 10 days in release to $203.1 million.

Ghostbusters was second with what Paul Dergarabedian of comScore described as a better-than-expected $46 million. This is the largest domestic opening for both director Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy. Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones as the titular team that must save New York City from an onslaught of paranormal activity.

The Legend Of Tarzan secured a very distant third place with $11.2 million. Finding Dory swam downstream to fourth with $11 million. And Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates nabbed the fifth position, thanks to box office receipts of $7.5 million. Next weekend sees the release of Star Trek Beyond into 3,500 theaters, Warner Bros will deliver the PG-13 horror Lights Out and Fox will release the fifth film in the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age: Collision Course, into 3,800 theaters. On a smaller scale, Fox Searchlight will release Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie into 250 theaters.
